Michał Tomasz Kamiński

Politician, expert on foreign affairs, recognized worldwide for efforts and success in the EU and Poland's Eastern policy. 

Actively engaged in politics since the end of the 1980's. Published in the underground independent press and Catholic media. In the early 1990's, he was the director of radio stations in Bydgoszcz and Łomża.

In 1997, he was one of the youngest Polish MPs and attained the 10th best result in the country during the elections as a candidate of the Solidarity Electoral Action. He was picked by journalists as the best speaker of parliament in a 1999 poll. Michał gained parliamentary experience and was re-elected to the Sejm in 2001.

In 2004, he was elected to the European Parliament, where he was previously an observer. He was the first Polish MEP to speak in the European Parliament. Between 2007-2009, he served as Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland. After a successful campaign in 2009, he was again elected to the EP. He is one of the most experienced and recognized Polish politicians in the European Parliament and he was also the first Pole to become a chairman of a political group. During his 8 years serving in the EP, he was one of the most active Polish MEPs. During the last parliamentary term, he had submitted 259 written questions (ranked 1st among Polish MEPs), signed 150 motions for resolutions (ranked 7th among Polish MEPs), and had 304 speeches in plenary.

Michał Kamiński was the author of the EP's report, which presented a European membership perspective for Ukraine. The Kamiński report is recognized as the first document, which opened up the process of association negotiations with Ukraine. 

He was the rapporteur of the Development Committee's (DEVE) report on corruption in the public and private sectors: the impact on human rights in third countries. Kamiński actively and effectively promoted Poland's interests in Europe. He organized many exhibitions and visits to the European Parliament, also from the Lublin region. 

Michał Kamiński's efforts in the international arena have gained wide recognition among many top European leaders. He is the recipient of several awards and medals: The Order of Merit of Ukraine (III and II class), the Cross of Merit of the Republic of Lithuania, the Cross of Merit of the Republic of Hungary, the Cross of Merit of the Portuguese Republic, the Order of Merit of Georgia, the Order of Saint Mary Magdalene (II class).  

Michał Kamiński is fluent in English, German, and Russian. He also communicates in Ukrainian, French, and Spanish. Michał is a fan of football. Most importantly, he values time with his family - wife Anna and two daughters Antonina and Anastazja.
